St. Ignatius was established in 1996, becoming the second Orthodox Church in the Madison area. They held their services at Edgewood College and later at Eagle School in Fitchburg. In 2004 they celebrated their first liturgy in their new church at 2124 Shafer Drive in Fitchburg. They expanded their building in 2011 and now have a membership of over 100. They provide religious education for children through ninth grade and have youth, men and women fellowship programs.
